A late 1800's Ottoman cotton block print fabric. What once use to be part of a wall hanging. Large motifs of stylzied florals and scrolled leaves with a large motif at one end of a basket holding florals. Light beige in color and outlined in black against what use to be a darker aubergine back and has now faded to a light violet color.

*actually two pieces of the same fabric hand seamed together. Original selvage can be seen at the seam. 
 
Condition
 
Distressed mostly along one side with larger and smaller holes as well as thin areas. The other side is in better condition with a few small holes. The fabric was quilted at one time and shows quilt lines and variation in background color due to age and quilting. In addition you will see some small thining areas. 
 
The fabric has been given a cold water soak to remove dust and dirt and then a light laundering using those famous Marseille soaps without bleaching agents. 
 
It is our aim to preserve and protect the orginal colors of the fabric since many of our fabrics are being currently reproduced.
