French silver lame theatre costume. A gown made by L. Garnier. His name stamped on the inside of the dress. L. Garnier was a costumier that worked in the early 1900's and from what research I've been able to gather worked in Marseille during the 1920's/30's and 40's. This gown smacks from period in designs and materials that were used.
This dress is made entire of silver lame fabric and pleated all the way around from waist down. At the top a strap that would have been fitted around the neck and has a hook and eye closure.
Top of the dress is garnished with celluloid dome shaped spangles that look ike pearls and are sided with glass bugle beads. Dressed closes at the side with hook and eye closures.
Unfortunately, my maniquen is slightly to large for the dress but gives a good impression of the shape and details .
Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.

Condition
Left in "as found" condition and very decorative on it's own.
The gown does have some conditions:
Top of gown. Small breaks in the fabric. Some damaged and missing dome shaped pearls which are placed on strips of fabric and in some areas the strips have come loose. Some missing bugle beads. Breaks in fabric above the waist.
Bottom of gown.
Has a group of dark stains at one spot towards the bottom of the gown. A couple of small holes. The lame does have wrinkles in it from being in storage and moved around.
We bought the gown for the beauty of the fabric which has aged with time and developed a beautiful antique patina. Most of the fabric is in good useable condition.
Perfect for a revamp or upscaling and a lot of material available.
