A hightly distressed 19th century French cotton stripe fabric. Actually two fabrics with a large piece in lavender and white stripes and a narrow piece also in shades of lavender and white hand stitched along the top edge.

Photos are a good indication of actual color and condition.

Measurements

Odd shape

1 meter 7 cm from top center to bottom center

The width is

1 meter 5 cm

*undoubtedly a seam somewhere in the larger piece but difficult to detect given how distressed the fabric is.

Condition

Very distressed. One half of the fabric is basically just strips with big long splits, holes and thin areas. The other half of the fabric is in better condition but also shows smaller splits many small holes and thin areas. Quilted at one time so you will see traces of quilt lines. Colors fairly even but do show signs of age and use.

In addition you will see and old repair and a patch. No stains.

The fabric has been given a cold water soak to remove dust and dirst and then a light light laundering using those famous Marseille soaps without bleaching agents.

It is our aim to preserve and protect the orginal colors of the fabric since many of our fabrics are being currently reproduced.
