An early to mid 1800's French cotton block print fabric. Possibly Oberkampf who did several variations of this design. Medallion shaped motifs with stylized blossoms and leaves. Background shows a dotted broken line and dots.
Colors are madder red and mustard.
Full repeat.
Photos are a good indication of actual color and condition.
Measurements
From top to botttom
1 meter 26 cm
The width is
78.5 cm (still has the selvage at both sides)
Condition
The fabric was made into a curtain at one time. Motifs are strong and even in color. Background color was probably an even medium mustard color at one time which can be seen at the selvage but has lighted with time. No stains.
There are two small breaks at one side and a couple of tiny pinholes that can be seen when the fabric is held up to the light.
The fabric has been given a long cold water soak to remove dust and dirt and a cold water wash using those famous Marseille soaps without bleaching agents.
It is our aim to preserve the color and integretity of the fabric since many of our fabrics are being reproduced.
