A 19th century French cotton roll print chintz fabric. Still has much of the original glazing. Depicting large motifs of groups of roses and leaves with smaller florals and leaves in between. Colors are shades of rosy red, shades of pink, a bit of white, brown and black accents. Background color shades of beige a band of picotage that alternate with a band of small leafy vines. 
 
Full repeat but missing pieces.

Condition
 
Other than removing the fabric from a quilt fragment and removing loose quilting threads left in "as found" condition. The fabric has not been laundered. 
 
At the later years of the 1800's it was common to use an iron oxide dye to achieve a brown color which would over the years detroy the threads. That is what has happened to this fabric. Several places where you can see that the brown dye was used and now those areas are missing. It has occured in many of the smaller florals motifs. 
 
Areas where the dyes were not used are still in good condition. A stained area just to the side of the center midway down the fabric.  Colors are strong and even. 
 
Lightly quilted at one with visible some visible lines.
