A 19th century French cotton fabric. Charcoal grey color with an off white pinstripe. Reminds me very much of the old work wear fabrics. Two patches at the back.

Photos are a good indication of actual color and condition.

Measurements

1 meter 2 cm x 74 cm

*actually 5 pieces different fabrics all hand seamed together with a linen thread. All though all fabrics match very close in color but you can see that they are different when looked at closely.

Condition

Distressed with variations in color. Some interesting organic looking stains, several old repairs. A couple of larger holes and several small holes. Also good areas without damage.  Two patches at the back which for the most part can only be seen at the back. Used for a quilt at one time so you will see light traces of quilt lines.

I find the back with the hand stitching, patches and seams as interesting and beautiful as the front.

The fabric has been given a cold water soak to remove dust and dirst and then a light light laundering using those famous Marseille soaps without bleaching agents.

It is our aim to preserve and protect the orginal colors of the fabric since many of our fabrics are being currently reproduced.
