We've carefully hand stitched this 19th century French cotton fabric sample to a hand written 18th century French letter dated 1779.
 
The fabric is a repeating roll print design of what looks like wavy eyelashes in gold with bands of ombre lavender and beige. Small broken branch motifs in the background.
