We've carefully hand stitched this 19th century French cotton fabric sample to a hand written 19th century French letter. 
 
The fabric is a resist dye in indigo blue and white with a stylized ikat design.  
 
Full repeat. 
 
Part of a unique collection of samples that we have been saving for documentation and reproduction work.

Condition
 
Left in "as found" condition. 
 
Fabric is in good condition with a couple of tiny holes. Quilted at one time so you will see quilt lines. 
 
Letter shows signs of wear and age.
