A late 1800's French cotton print fabric. Slight indienne/oriental look with alternating motifs of florals and leaves on crooked branches with long stems of bamboo. Colors are shades of red, black and a bit of yellow against a light beige background. Curtains at one time so there is a small hem along the top and bottom edge.

Full repeat.

Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.

Measurements

From top to bottom

2 meters 90 cm

The width is

83 cm (still has the selvage along both sides)

Condition

Colors are good strong and even.

There are some larger and smaller holes along one of the selvage edges. The rest of the fabric is in good condition without damage. Even after it's cold water water soak and wash shows some staining and browning of the background color which would all probably lighten with a deeper cleaning if desired. Our main concern it to make sure dust and dirt are removed and that the fabric is fresh and clean.

The fabric has been giving a long cold water soak to remove dust and dirt and then a cold water wash using those famous Marseille soaps without bleaching agents.

It is our aim to preserve and protect the orginal colors of the fabric since many of our fabrics are being currently reproduced.
