A 19th century French quilt fragment. Depicting long narrow branches that alternate with motifs of ikat. Red in color with a white background. 
 
Backed with a 19th century French finely woven cotton.

Left in "as found" condition. 
 
When looked at closely you can see that the fabric is three pieces that have been hand stitched together. Shows even soiling from use and age. One dark stain at the at the corner of one end. One small hole just up from the stain. Normally when these fabrics are removed from the quilting you will see small holes and thin areas.
