A stunning and rare piece of 19th century French textile art. All hand done. The base is comprised of several pieces pieces of silk brocade, silks, panne velvets, cut velvets, a small piece of silk ikat and a small piece of silk ombre. You can see the hand stitching between each piece. Embroidered blossom motifs over the pieces in wool and probably cotton threads. Linend at the back with silk An open weave corded silk passementerie around all sides.

Condition
 
Front in good condition except for one tiny spot missing a bit of silk in one of the pieces.  Some threads in the blossoms that have come loose and could easly be stitched back into lace. 
 
Backside. Silk backing does show some splits and weak areas. 
 
Passementerie trim is in good condition. The tassels that have been added (which I would remove) are worn. 
 
Would make a spectacular long pillow or frame up nicely.
