A striking and rare piece of 19th century French textile art. All hand done. The base is comprised of several pieces of silk and silk brocade ribbons hand seamed together. You can see the hand stitching between each piece. Embroidered blossom motifs over the ribbon in wool, silk and probably cotton threads. Linend at the back with silk A passementerie trim at each end.

Front in good condition with only a few threads in the blossoms that have come loose and could easly be stitched back into lace. 
 
Backside. Silk backing does show some splits and weak areas. 
 
Passementerie trim is worn and shows missing pieces. 
 
Would make a spectacular long pillow or frame up nicely.
