A 19th century French toile du jouy. Cotton. Depicting birds; scroll work and garlands of small florals and leaves. 
 
Colors are shades of grey to off white with a blue background.

Condition
 
Overall good condition except for a small tear botto, left  hand corner, tear at one edge and a few tiny holes and thin spots which can be seen when held up to the light. Lightly quilted at one time. Color in motifs strong and consistant. Slight variation in background color due to age and use. 
 
The fabric has been given a long cold water soak to removed dust and dirt using those famous Marseille soaps without bleaching agents. 
 
It is our aim to preserve the color and the integrety of the fabric since many of our fabrics are being reproduced.
