Since our move to the south of France I have become a huge fan of French chanvre linen. A durable material that stays cool in the summer and keeps you warm in the winter. 
 
This 19th century example blue and white plaid with a deep red stripe has a heavier weight which would be suitable for upholstery projects as well as soft furnishings. Hand loomed.
