This French fabric is a bit of a mystery to us even after much research and discussing it with a few local textile dealers.
Cotton/wool blend with a resist dye design of large florals, sways of small florals and tassels. Indidgo blue and white in color. The design is from the 1700's and the width coincides with fabrics made from this period. However the fabric is in excellent condition and was part of a French quilt at one time.
We suspect it may be a mid 20th century (1950's) reproduction. Quality item and suitabel for soft furnishings and upholstery projects.
Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.
Measurements
From top to bottom
1 meters 7 cm
The width is
77 cm wide (still has the selvage at both sides)
Condition
Left in "as found" condition and has not been laundered. Good clean appearance with even colors.
Used but still in exellent condition with no damage or stains. Lightly quilted at one time so slight traces of quilt lines. The only thing to note is some slight residue from batting so you may want to give the fabric a good brush over to remove lint.
