An 18th century French quilt. Cotton front with a chanvre linen back. Indienne design. 
 
Front is made of two different fabrics. The main fabric is a repeating roll/block print of small stylized florals with a two leaves at the base in red and yellow with outlines in dark aubergine. 
 
At two sides a panel of roll/block print of groups of florals rosy red, light blue, pink and a bit of yellow. 
 
Thin layer of battering between the front and back.

The bands at the sides are approx. 19 cm wide. 
 
Condition
 
Left in "as found" condition. Very decorative as is. 
 
The quilt does show signs of age with several small holes throughout and undoubtedly some thin areas. There is one patch on the front towards one side. A few light stains front and back and some soiling from age and storage which would probably lift with a professional cleaning.  
 
Colors are fairly even with no obvious fading.
