An 18th century French silk and gold metal thread brocade fabric. Depicting large motifs of thistles and leaves together with leafy branches and smallerflorals.
Colors: predominant colors are shades of goldto yellow with a bit of blue.
Background color deep medium green.
At the back a stamped number 470 and at each corner a stamped shield motif with letters at the top C & D.
Usually the brocades made in the 1700's used real gold and silver threads.

Left in as found condition.
Colors are good and strong all silk and metal threads in tact although a few metal threads have come loose.
Background color shows some surface wear and when held up to the light you can see that the brocade has a few thin areas. There are also some small places at one side and just above the center that have wax drips.
