An 18th century French silk and silver metallic thread brocade fabric. Depicting two larger florals in a silver metal thread and silver and peach silk thread combined with smaller groups of florals in the same color tones and some antique white. Leafy branches in the background.

Background color is blue.

Usually the brocades made in the 1700's used real gold and silver threads.

Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.

Measurements

Two panels that have been hand stitched to a piece of linen probably to keep the pieces together and for stability. They can easily be removed.

One panel measures

1 meter 6 cm from top to bottom x 17.5 cm wide

The other panel measures

78.5 cm from top to bottom x 18 cm wide.

Condition

Left in as found condition.

Colors and silk and silver metal threads intact in the motifs.

Background color has aged and faded down the middle of both panels. You will see some surface wear to the silk on both panels. One tiny thin area in the smaller panel together with an old repair.

Probably best suited for documentation or framing although I believe the silks are for the most part strong.
