An 18th century French silk and silver metallic thread brocade fabric. Depicting groups of florals and leaves in silk and silver metallic thread with stylized ribbons and blossoms done in silk and silver thread. 

 

Colors: red, brown, light peach antique white, shades of green silver and lavender. 

 

Background color blue.

 

Cardboard label at top describes color. 

 

Usually the brocades made in the 1700's used real gold and silver threads. 

 

Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.

*actually two pieces of the same fabric that have been expertly hand seamed together. Seam runs across the width and is 27 cm down from the top edge. 

 

Condition

 

Left in as found condition. 

 

Colors are good and strong and all threads intact. 

 

As you can see in the photos there is one hole in the upper top left hand corner and another small tear and hole bottom left hand corner edge. For the rest the brocade is in very good condition and strong with no splits.
