An interesting off white linen panel and a bit of a mystery to me. Purchased in France but possibly East European.
I'm dating it at early 1900's although it may be earlier.
The panel has two rowes of the same motifs depicting a lion and a stylzied figure all hand done in a silk thread. In between the motifs octagonal motis hand done in a creme colored thread as well as the lacw inserts between the rows. All the edges of the motis and the octagonal are outlined in gold metal thread that has now tarnished evenly to grey.
Outer edges on the panel finished off in a silk thread.
Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.
Measurements
98 cm in length x 59 cm wide.
Condition
Left in "as found" condition.
Very good condition. No thread loss and no damage. There are a few very light stains that show up in the background but nothing that I find distracts.
Color are good and even.
