An early 20th century Morroccan Rabat silk floss embroidered curtain. Base is a hand tambour embroidered muslin cotton. Center motif looks a bit like a temple. Silk floss fringe along the bottom edge. A linen strip along the top to support hanging.

Colors of the embroidery are shades of blue, dark wine, creme, violet and peach.

Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.

Measurements

From top to bottom

3 meters 12 cm (not including the length of the fringe at the bottom)

The width is

1 meter 47 cm

Condition

Left in as found condition.

All of the embroidery work is intact with no damage or missing thread. Colors strong and consistant.

The muslin cotton has a couple of hole in and around the embroidery along the bottom and also some small holes and breaks mainly at or towards the sides.

The curtain is very large and the upper part was rolled up at one time to accommodate the size or a room where it once hung. You can see that the upper half of the muslim cotton which was not exposed to the elements is white in color. The lower half has undoubtedly accumumated dust through the years turning the muslin a light brown in color. So possibly a professional cleaning.
