An early to mid 1800's French toile du jouy. Linen. Shades of rosey red in color with a light natural linen colored background. Depicts various scenes with figures and animals.

*actually two pieces of the same fabric hand stitched together. One narrower piece at the right hand side (21 cm wide) with seam running frm top to bottom.
Condition
Most of the fabric in good useable condition. Most notable a large tear at the left hand side, Larger hole and thin just off of the center area upper right hand side. A few thin areas which can be seen when held up to light. Small holes along bottom edge.
No obvious stains. Good clean look with consistant colors.
The fabric has been given a long cold water soak to removed dust and dirt using those famous Marseille soaps without bleaching agents.
It is our aim to preserve the color and the integrety of the fabrci since many of our fabrics are being reproduced.
