Probably a early 1900's French linen sack. Rope closure at the top. Hand embroidered monogram towards the top in blue. Natural linen color

Most notably at one side two large triangle shaped moisture stains with breaks in the threads. One old repair towards the top. Lighter stains here and there. One thin area at the middle. 
 
Some soiling.  Could use a good soaking.
