Part of Dutch traditional costumes, this hand embroidered band that would have been used at each side of an apron and used to attach one side to the other side. Repeating pattern of birds and hearts. Probably dates from the late 1800's early 1900's. 
 
Done in a black wool thread on a linen back. Metal hook at each end.
