A very early piece of silk and metal thread embroidery work possibly 17th century. Probably Italian. Could have been a part of a vestment at one time with what looks like a stylized cross center with stylized fleur de lys to the centers. Groups of florals at the corners and along the edges. All done on a dark olive silk back with a linen liner. Photos are a good represenation of actual color. I've also included photos of the back to which show details of the embroidery work.
Measurement
60 x 42 cm.
Condition
Embroidery work is still in good condition and intact. You can see that the silk back has worn and missing exposing the linen back. There is stain at top center. Nice piece for possible reuse, framing or as a documentation piece.
