Some extaordinary embroidery in this 18th century silk & metallic thread brocade chalice cloth. Belgium in origin. Depicting large carnation and leaf motifs at each corern with small leaves and florals in between. Center has a small medallion of a lion with leaves around the sides. Colors are shades of gold to yellow, shades of blue, shades of green, antique white and a bit of dark pink on a lavender silk background. 
 
Silk and cotton trim along the sides and lined at the back with a purple cotton.

Condition
 
Good for it's age. Embroidery mostly intact with the odd metallic thread here and there that has come loose and can be reattached. The silk ground has some old repairs In a few small spots you will see a bit of the silk thread that has disappeared but nothing major or distracting.
