A 19th century French quilt. All hand stitched.
One side: Cotton block print with a repeating small floral and leaf design in black against a creme colored background.
Other side: Cotton. Roll pint of stripes in blue with motifs in green, old pink tan. Motifs appear to be groups of florals and leaves with a bird that alternate with swags of leaves, a trumpet and arrow.
Thin layer of batting between the fabrics.
As with most of the quilts from this period the fabrics are several panels that have been hand seamed together and usually the panels are between 80 to 90 cm wide if they are from selvage to selvage.
Photos are a good indication of color and condition.
