A 19th century French quilt. All hand stitched.

One side. Cotton. Indienne influence of small florals and leaves in marigold, terracotta and black with a tiny dot pattern in between also in black. All on a white background.

Other side. Cotton. Floral motifs in shades of red to pink with a very faint background pattern of small florals and leaves in pastel green and pink.

Thin layer of batting between the fabrics.

As with most of the quilts from this period the fabrics are several panels that have been hand seamed together and usually the panels are between 80 to 90 cm wide if they are from selvage to selvage.

Photos are a good indication of color and condition.
