An enormous heavy volume setting out the history of fine fabrics and embroideries from ancient times to the 1700's.
The book begins with a 37 page introduction. Thereafter an index of 100 categories.
There are 100 beautiful colored lithographs made from drawings by Charles Kreutzberger (1829-1904), Printed at the Parisian typographic housee, Lemercier.
Only the introductory pages are numbers. What follows is a one page discription of the fabrics (age and origin) with a colored illustration following. So probably 200 pages in total not including the introduction.
