A rare and exceptional find this Marseille's hand embroidered quilt. All cotton. White. These quilts have a fasinating history and the work and hours put into making them was intensive.
This example has a name and date. The name appears to be Therese BRNS and the date is "1864." It has several different motifs around the outer edge including florals, paisley, baskets, wheat and hearts. All of which symbolize a specific meaning.
Along all edges a wide needlework and crochet lace.

Condition
Left in "as found" condition.
The quilt is in very good condition with no damage. It does show a couple of long light lines of yellow probably from folding or age and I'm sure they will lift with a good soaking or professional clean.
