A large panel of 19th century French cotton print fabric. Looks like wild roses on long thorny and leafy winding stems. Blossoms are in natrual shades of red and white. Stems, leaves and background in shades of brown.
Full repeat.
Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.
Measurements
From top to bottom
2 meters 46 cm
The width is
1 meter 9 cm across the bottom. The width across the top is 76. This panel was made into a curtain and is pleated and gathered at the top edge with a linen band on the reverse side.
The panel is actuall one large piece at one side that measures 78 cm wide and four smaller pieces that have been hand seamed together at the side that measure approx. 36 cm wide.
You will see several places at the seams with original selvage and I believe original width of the fabric was approx.80 cm wide.
Condition
Colors are good strong and consistant for the most part. There are a couple of small fade spots. Some larger holes and wear at the side with the smaller pieces. A few tiny holes here and there Some light soiling which would probably lift with a deeper cleaning.
There are large sections of the fabric in very good useable condition.
The fabric has been giving a long cold water soak to remove dust and dirt and then a cold water wash using those famous Marseille soaps without bleaching agents.
It is our aim to preserve and protect the orginal colors of the fabric since many of our fabrics are being currently reproduced.
