A 19th century French toile du jouy. Cotton. Colors are shades of golden tan with creme. Depicting daily country scenes with figures, buildings and foilage. You will see a couple of inscriptions in the toile "le dejeune de la veille des noces" and "la femme de menage."

Condition
Lightly quilted at one time so you will see light traces of quilt lines. The fabric has some larger holes at the sides and one at the top and many small holes and thin areas here and there throughout.
Colors are good and even. No stains.
Best suited for small projects or documentation.
The fabric has been giving a very long cold water soak to remove years worth of dust and dirt, rinsed thoroughly and then gently laundered using those famous Marseille soaps without bleaching agents.
