What use to be a French traditional skirt at one time, this early to mid 1800's block print fabric has been turned into a coverlet at a later stage in time. Probably a wool/linen or wool/cotton combination. Block print design long leafy branches in brown with berries at the ends in rosy pinks and shades of green. Probably vegetable dyes. The piece is quilted with rows of straight quilt lines. The liner is cotton and repeat pattern of small rectangles.

Very thin layer of batting between the front and back fabrics.

Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.

Measurements

1 meter 45 cm x 1 meter 93 cm

Condition

Left in "as found" condition.

For the most part in very good condition but a few things to note.

Front side: One small stain towards one side on the front sides and a few small holes but mostly at the edges. The front is actually several pieces of the same fabric that have all been hand seamed together. There is one long narrow piece that appears to have been applied as a patch to possibly cover a split. this narrow piece is a shade lighter in color. Majority of the fabric in very good useable condition.

At the back some small splits and holes here and thee and some stains. Due to stains and splits back fabric has good useable areas but maybe best suited for smaller projects.
