An interesting white linen panel and a bit of a mystery to me. I'm dating it at early 1900's although it may be much early The panel is all silk embroidered with the threads being couched together and very much resembles embroideries from the 17th &18th century. Various floral and leaf motifs including tuips. Colors are a bluish grey, pastel green, light terracotta, creme and two shades of light blue. Around the sides a cotton lace (probably machine made). At one corner you can see a very small seam which gives me the idea that the embroidery was probably a larger piece at one time.
Thin layer of batting between front and back.
Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.
Measurements
Of the linen panel only
98 x 23 cm
Add another 7 cm to three of the sides for the width of the lace and 4 cm to the width for one of the sides.
Condition
Left in "as found" condition.
Very good clean condition. A couple of very tiny and very light age spots but nothing that I find distracting.
Color are good and even.
