An early to mid 1800's French block print fabric. Cotton. Repeat design of birds (which look like Phoenix) that alternate with stylized ribbon, florals and leaves in light blue and white against a madder red colored background. Full repeat.

Condition
 
Used and quilted at one time so you will see light traces of quilt lines. Colors are good and even but were undoubtedly darker when the fabric was first made. No stains.
 
A couple of tiny pinholes when held up to the light and a couple of very small thin areas. Nothing major and the fabric is in good useable condition. 
 
The fabric has been lightly laundered using those famous Marseille soaps without bleaching agents to remove dust and dirt. We like to deliver a clean and pressed product when possible but take care to preserve the color and the integretity of the fabric.
