A 19th century French hand stitched quilt/coverlet. Cotton fabrics front and back with a thin batting between. 
 
Front fabric a block print of birds, groups of florals and leaves some cute insects. Colors are naturals red and mustard against an indigo blue background. White picotage work throughout which outlines motifs and used as a filler. 
 
Back fabric depicts florals and leaves in shades of gold against a creme colored background.

Condition
 
Left in "as found" condition.
 
On the front you can tell when you loo at the coverlet closely that it is made up of several smaller pieces that have all been pieces together and vary in size. One section is slightly light in color while the rest of the coverlet has darkened in color due to age. Color are good and even. Fairly clean appearance with no stains.  No apparant damage. 
 
Back fabric has a large hole at the center and a smaller hole next to it as well as a couple of other small holes. A few light stains and some visible old repairs at one side. For the rest the fabric is in good condition.
