Stunning design and colors in this early to mid 1800's French cotton quilted coverlet. On one side repeating a branch design in madder red, white and greenish blue . On the other side a branch and leaves design in white against a greenish blue back ground.  When you look closely you can see that the coverlet is made up of several of the same pieces of fabric all hand seamed together.

A thin layer of batting between the fabrics.

Photos are good representation of actual color and condition.

Measurements

Condition

Left in "as found" condition.

Overall good condition and good appearance.

You will see a few small breaks on the front fabric and a couple of light small discolored spots and repairs  but for the most part the fabric is in very good condition.  A smaller patch (from the same fabric° towards the center of the quilt has undoubtedly been used to cover a hole. The patch has not been exposed to elements for as long as the rest of the quilt and reflects true original colors.

Colors have aged over time but still strong; even and consistant.

Back of the fabric in very good condition with strong even colors. The only thing to note is 3 small stains next to each at one side and I noticed one very tiny hole at one corner.
