Late 1800's early 1900's Chinese embroidered wall hanging. At the top you will see a smaller bird and I counted five small butterflies. There is another bird tucked between the bamboo branches towards the top. Center depicts a large peacock. At the bottom a large tiger. Around the sides of the peacock bamboo. At the edges along all side you will see stylized florals and leaves. 
 
All hand embroidered in silk threads on a rosy pink silk back. The silk has been lined with cotton for stability and there is a polished green cotton liner at the back. 
 
All sides of the wall hanging have been edged with a gold metallic twist rope fringe dating from the same period. The fringe has taken on a darker warm patina and even throughout.

Condition
 
Left in "as found" condition. Very decorative on it's own if you like distressed looking textiles. 
 
The embroidery work on the panel is still in good condition. The rosy silk ground as you can see has frayed and split for the most part with heavier wear at the center. Around the sides in slightly better condtiion but the silk is still fragile. 
 
Would make a wonderful slow stitch project. 
 
The metallic fringe around the sides all in good condition. 
 
Liner at the back in in good condition with no damage but shows some discoloration and stains.
