Beautiful unused panel of mid to late 1800's. French silk. Clean, crisp tailored look. Striped in light grey and white. Probably intended for clothing since we have a bodice currently listed made from the same fabric. Great quality.
Photos are a good representation of color and condition.
Measurements
From top to bottom
1 meter 13 cm
The width is
53.5 cm (still has the selvage at both sides)
Condition
Left in "as found" condition and not laundered.
Basically unused very good condition The silk was tacked to a piece of linen which we removed so you will see some tiny sewing pinholes at the sides. Nothing major.
Some very light small age spots center area probably mostly the result of dust which should come up with a cold water soak. One small age spot at sevlage and a slightly large age spot towards one end of the panel. In addition, I saw two tiny pinholes when I held the fabric up to the light.
Silk is very strong with no breaks or weak spots and very useable for sewing.
Colors are good, strong and even.
