Rare find! A 19th century French cashmere shawl. Possibly produced by the Villepreux workshops. Known for the harlequin style weaves. 

 

Bands of a wide variety of richly woven florals and leaveys in harmonies colors of red, green, saffron, blue, black and white. 

 

Measurements

 

3 meters 49 cm in length

 

(does not include the length of the fringes at each end)

 

The width is 

 

1 meter 78 cm 

 

Condition

 

  Overall very good condition especially for age. There are 4 small repairs which we have tried to show in the photo and there are some tiny holes here and there but nothing major and the shawl is still very wearable, vibrant in color with no discoloration or stains.
