Rare find! 

 

A late 1700's early 1800's Indian tent hanging fragment. Home spun plain weave cotton. Block print. Top edge a row of arches with floral motifs. Center a row of of figure at one side with turtles to the other side. Bottom a row of geometrics with partial florals underneath. Colors are madder red, pale yellow, light olive green with outlines in black.

Original selvage runs along both the top edge and bottom edge. 


Condition

 

Left in "as found" condition. 

 

Very good for age. No holes but there are a few stains in and around the figures center.
